Isn’t this a gorgeous quilt made by Joy Smith and Joyce Lewns for the Olympics. It is based on our pattern Building Blocks with a very edible twist!. The wonderful fruit and veg fabrics have been used as the two ladies live in Whitstable which is near Brogdale – the home of the National Fruit Collection and Thanet Earth which has the largest greenhouses in the country that grow vegetables.
Joy came to Ardingly show and showed Pam this picture. We really do love seeing what you’ve made so don’t be shy in sending in pics!

This is our nearly finished new quilt Friday Night Saturday Morning. It’s made with the new Rouenerries Deux fabrics by French General and using the versatile Creative Grids Kaleidoscope Double Strip Ruler. We will have the pattern and kit available online shortly and it will be at Ardingly quilt show next week. There is a variation to this pattern which we’ve made using the new 30′s Playtime fabric – we will have a kit for that too. However – until it is all finished this is just a sneek peak!

A few years ago we blogged about the quilt that Chris (our longarm quilter at The Quilt Room) made for her daughter Gemma when she went off to uni. Now….a few years on and this is the quilt that she has made for her son Jeremy. What is so special about this quilt is that it is made from Jeremy’s old shirts (and a few of Chris’ husband too!). What a great idea. This was inspired by one of The Quilt Room workshops given by Gill Turley that Chris attended. On the back of the quilt Chris has put in snippets of the shirts used and the dates. What a lovely quilt and one that will really be treasured.

You know how much we love receiving photos of quilts you have made from our books and patterns and just look at this gorgeous quilt. It was made by Lin Saunders for her grand-daughter Edie and it is to be her Christmas present. Wouldn’t you just love to be around to see Edie’s face when she sees her quilt. The pattern is from our Two From One Jelly Roll Quilt book and the fabrics Lin has chosen are gorgeous.

And I know I do go on about it a lot but just look at this beautiful label Lin has put on the back of her quilt. It is so important that we label our quilts. Nicky and I are working on a book due out next year called Antique to Heirloom Jelly Roll Quilts. We are using our antique quilts as inspiration to make modern day heirloom versions from jelly rolls. Only one of our antique quilts has a label and it would have been so nice to have been able to acknowledge the clever quilters of the past. Well done Lin – Edie has a very clever grandmother.
