Schoolhouse here we come!

20120517-173256.jpg

Schoolhouse is a series of presentations that run throughout the day with the main aim of introducing new products that are being launched at market. This was our first schoolhouse where we did the presenting. Very nerve wracking but great fun and we had a full house although whether anyone could understand our accents is another thing! They seemed to like us.
Now quickly having a well earned cocktail and then off to Sample Spree this evening which is a preview evening where we’ll be launching our new patterns and pattern books.
Think we’re going to sleep well tonight!

Setting up

20120517-055250.jpg

This is our booth. We’re next to Primitive Gathering – we stocked their great Little Gathering range last year and they have a new range out which we’re very excited about seeing. They also very kindly lent us their step ladder – that was one thing we really couldn’t fit in our suitcases. Still lots to do and we can’t really finish until after our Schoolhouse presentation as we need the quilts for that. So just an empty shell at the moment – but it will all come together (we hope!)

First night in Kansas City

20120516-070252.jpg

After a long flight we arrived with all our luggage still intact which was a huge relief as we have taken everything for our stand- so suitcases are packed to the max! Although we did nearly miss our first flight as Pam and Mandy Shaw of Dandelion Designs (who was on the same flights) were too busy chatting!
Kansas City is known for fountains (apparently is second after Venice with the number of fountains), jazz music and barbecues. So we went and had a lovely fish barbecue dinner with strawberry mojitos and then collapsed into bed (from tiredness, not mojitos!).
So today we set up our stand. Our bunting which was the one thing we forgot is being sent out to us so hopefully we’ll get that tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted with lots of pictures.
The picture above is the view from our hotel room so just a short walk to the convention centre.

Lambing has begun

Vera with Twins

We have been waiting in anticipation for the last week and at last our first lambs  have arrived. Vera is one of our original Manx Loaghtan sheep which we have had for three years now and she produced her twins without any fuss.  She is extremely proud of them.

It is now four days later and we have  got a further two pairs of twins and three singletons from the Manx Loaghtan flock and only one from the Hebrideans. It is still early days and there are lots more very fat ladies on the hillside. It is such an exciting time.
